One of the most emotional parts of what I do is placing my adult Shih Tzus into new homes. It truly pulls at my heart. 🥺
I can confidently say that every one of my adults has been raised in a loving, attentive, hands-on home environment. They are not kennel dogs in any way. They live as part of my home and family. They sleep in clean, cushy beds (often right beside me), enjoy high-quality food, fresh water at all times, dehydrated single-ingredient treats, and a spotless environment. They have the freedom to run and play outdoors safely, come inside to enjoy the cool air conditioning, and they have more toys than you can count!
While I deeply respect rescue organizations, one of the advantages of adopting one of my adults is that you truly know their history. You know how they have been raised, their temperament, their routines, and the level of care they have consistently received. There are no unknowns regarding their background — only a lifetime of love and proper socialization.
What I want most for them is a person or family who will love him or her unconditionally — where they can continue to thrive, feel secure, and be cherished every single day. 🥰
Adult dogs are truly wonderful companions. They are receptive to learning new routines, already understand basic household expectations, are past the teething stage, and are housebroken (my adults use doggy doors). While they still have joyful energy, they are calmer and do not require the constant vigilance that young puppies do.
When they transition to your home, they may feel nervous or unsure for the first week or two. Patience, gentleness, and reassurance are so important during that time. Once they understand they are safe and loved, they bond deeply. Their devotion is extraordinary. They truly look to you as their protector and will reward you with unconditional love and loyalty.
Like all Shih Tzus, these sweet angels simply want to be close to their person — on your lap, near your side, on your bed. Being with you is their happiest place.
Health & Adoption Information
• Adults may or may not be spayed or neutered. You will be required to spay or neuter them if they are not.
• All will be current on vaccinations (parvovirus, distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and Bordetella/kennel cough).
• They will be dewormed and microchipped.
• The microchip must be registered in your name on the day you take your dog home (we will complete this together).
• You are required to schedule a veterinary visit within 7 business days of adoption for a wellness check and rabies vaccination.
Placing my adults is never easy, but seeing them flourish in the right forever home makes it worthwhile. 💕
